Learn about our approach to health

Discover

The first phase in our 3- step process.  This is all about getting to the root cause of your health concerns.  This is where our team gathers a very in-depth health history to determine what functional testing needs to be done in addition to examining your current diet and other lifestyle factors that will help us develop a personalized plan for you.

Reclaim

The implementation phase.  In this phase our team supports you while you reclaim your health through a process of applying nutritional changes & correcting nutrient deficiencies, balancing hormones, working through a detoxification process, healing your digestive tract (gut healing) and incorporating mind/body exercises for stress management.

Thrive

Our third and final step in our process is all about co-creating your long-term lifestyle plan.  Though this program is intended to build a healthy foundation for you, our ultimate goal is to put practices into place that you can count on moving forward.  This will be instrumental in maintaining your new found level of health.

FAQs

This is an in-depth process and a huge commitment! We have found that we are the most successful with clients when we take them through an accelerated and very focused process. That being said, you must be ready, willing, and able to truly make your health a priority! The time commitment is dependent upon your individual circumstance and how long we believe it will take to get you on the right path- which will be discussed at your evaluation. We generally work with clients from 3-12 months.
Functional medicine determines how and why illness occurs and restores health by addressing the root causes of health concerns for each individual. Functional medicine treats the “whole person” and recognizes that we need to look at all aspects of health and many avenues in our lives to bring the body back into balance.
The cost of your program will be determined upon how long we believe we will need to work together in addition to what testing we recommend for you. While this is discussed and determined at your evaluation, our programs range quite a bit in cost as it is not a one size fits all approach.
No, insurance does not cover the initial investment to work with us in a health program model as they simply do not cover what we do. We accept FSA and HSA because you can spend your money on your health the way you see fit. After we have completed your program, we may be able to work with your insurance for follow up care.
No, we cannot. We are a small practice and can therefore only take on a number of clients at once. In addition to this, we can only work with people who, we not only feel with a high level of certainty we can help, but that they themselves will be capable of doing the work. Our clients with the most success are motivated, ready to do what it takes, and are able to place their trust in us. When we review your application and potentially have a consultation, we will be taking these aspects into consideration to determine if we can work together.
Because both your time and ours is valuable, our first step in the application process is to complete our online prospective patient application. This application will help us determine if you would be a good fit to come in for our full 1-hour wellness evaluation with Dr. Brenda McCool. At the time of the evaluation both you and our team will determine if working together sounds like a recipe for success and if we can ultimately accept you into a program.
